Last month Port of Wisbech purchased a second clamshell to assist with the discharge and loading of aggregate vessels. This new clamshell has a 3.5m3 load capacity compared to the existing 2m3 capacity clamshell which was purchased at the end of 2023. This has streamlined the discharge process and allows vehicles to be loaded during discharge without having to pause operations. As a result Port of Wisbech are able to discharge a 4200m3 aggregate cargo within a 12 hour shift which is a positive result for customers as well as the vessel operators who can expect a quick turnaround when calling at Wisbech.
