About Us

Peter Allen and three business partners took over The Port of Wisbech in 2004 with the aim of transforming the port facilities into a leading international port handling facility.

Bringing in a host of varied handling equipment including cranes and fork lift trucks to speed up loading and unloading of ships, they worked hard encouraging companies to use the Baltic liner service from Riga and to bring on new customers.

After buying out his partners in 2007, Peter, who comes from a long and varied port career, took on the business and now, in his own words, “lives and breathes it”.

The Port of Wisbech holds the sole stevedoring licence from Fenland District Council, owner of the quayside, this therefore entitles ourselves to load and un-load all ships that use the Port of Wisbech.

A member of The Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers, the port also belongs to the Road Haulage Association.

Peter Allen is a qualified ships broker and believes his many years of experience working port-side enables him and his colleagues to provide a really tailored, one-to-one service for their customers.

“We may not be the largest but we offer excellent port facilities, acres of quayside space and a knowledgeable, professional team. It’s a powerful combination,” Peter says.
